The Orlando-Winter Park Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi was installed on June 11, 1969. Before the chartering of the chapter, AOII Alumnae in the Orlando, Florida area had met together socially for several years. The chapter initially had sixteen members from the collegiate chapters of Omicron (University of Tennessee), Delta (Tufts University), Nu Omicron (Vanderbilt University), Kappa Gamma (Florida Southern College), Pi Kappa (University of Texas), Beta Gamma (Michigan State University), Alpha Phi (Montana State University), Alpha Pi (Florida State University), Delta Delta (Auburn University), and Rho (Northwestern University). The chapter's name was changed to the Orlando Area Alumnae Chapter in the early 1990s.
Our chapter and some of our members have received wonderful awards. The Ruby Award for Standards of Excellence has been given to our chapter the last six years. This is the top award that an alumnae chapter can receive. We have also received the Sheaf Award, which is given by the AOII Foundation for the chapter's philanthropy. The Rose Award is given to outstanding alumnae. The following members of our chapter have received this award: Mary Ruth McKnight, Marty Harrison, and Marianna LaRue.
As a chapter, we support the collegiate chapter of Mu Lambda at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. We installed the chapter in 2002.
